DESCRIPTION
First edition of Artillery of Words The Writings of Sir Winston Churchill by Frederick Woods in the original publishers cloth binding.
A presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the first free endpaper.
This is one of the first literary criticisms of the work of Churchill, acknowledging his writing career of which he wrote over fifty books and received the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Inserted is an intriguing empty envelope. Addressed to Mrs. Williams and with an ink inscription on the back Sir Winston Church (The death of Lord Cherwell). The stamp is dated 1957 from Kent, at 05:30AM. This was likely a letter sent from Churchills offices to inform Mrs. Williams of the death of Lord Cherwell, the prime scientific adviser to Churchill during the War, who died naturally in his sleep in 1957.
CONDITION
In the original publishers cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. There are some light creases to the extremities of the dust wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean.
