ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING BY THE LATE BRITISH ARTIST, THOMAS JOHN BRERETON
Hello and welcome to my listing of an original professionally framed acrylic painting on board using high quality artists acrylic paints and varnish. The picture is NOT a reproduction, print, photocopy, etc. It is the real thing, signed, varnished and ready for displaying.
In the words of my father,"The fields around the historic listed building Philips Farm near where I live in Manchester are very popular with horse riders. Sometimes I have seen as many as a 100 horses, nearly all of which belong to local people, out in the fields around Philips Farm. As a lover of horses, this is an ideal place for me and I have spent countless hours out in the fields sketching them. I got this scene as the sun was setting one early Autumn day. I like the way the long shadows contrast with the ponys squat proportions and the low setting sun delicately highlights their manes. You might be surprised to learn that this was not an easy picture to paint! The background was especially challenging and it took a lot of experimentation to find the right way of depicting the Autumn colours in the fading late afternoon light. As it was a cold day, just a hint of mist was beginning to form too adding to a lovely atmospheric scene".
The paintings frame size is 49.25cm x 39.25cm and was paintedby my late father, Thomas John Brereton (I am his eldest son, Steven Brereton). My late father struggled with the digital age and its computers, software, flash drives, etc, etc; he much preferred to sketch and paint than wrestle with computers! Whilst my father had no website (not good for an artist...) he did have a studio full of his superb wildlife, livestock, pet, portrait and landscape paintings. After much discussion we decided last year that something had to be done. Just like many artists, my father never lost his burning desire for people to see and enjoy his work so I stepped in to try and help out with his painting sales, hence a bit of activity by me and my computer on his behalf viaeBay.
I am a long standing er with a 100% rating so buy with confidence.
I sold paintings on eBayfor my father a few years ago and they sold well so last year we decided to try another batch. We have had a good response so far and I hope you like the latest batch of newly listed paintings. Having seen these paintings close up and studied them in great detail I can honestly say that they truly are exceptional works of art - I cannot recommend enough that you come and look at them. There are not many artists who can paint this well and if you seriously follow landscape and wildlife/equine painting you will know that work of this standard by name artists sells for thousands.
The paintings frame is dead straight by the way. The slight curve in the framing is the camera distorting - ever so slightly - the picture. Thats what happens when you take pictures with a camera which does not have a full frame digital sensor. But have you seen how much they cost?!

Heres some background information on my father:
The late Thomas John Brereton from Stockport in Cheshire was trained in art at the John Hensall studio in Stockport, and then under John Mifflin A.R.C.A. in Marple, Cheshire. My father founded the Society of Marple Artists in Cheshire and, amongst other things, has been an active member of the David Shepherd Charitable Foundation, the Wildlife Art Society and the Society for Wildlife Art of the Nation. He has exhibited his artwork throughout the UK including the Mall Gallery, London, Northern Wildlife, Wales, and the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, Liverpool. His paintings are held in collections in the USA, Canada and the UK. He has also undertaken commissions for The Cheshire Life and Dalesman magazines, the Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Freshfields donkey sanctuary, farmers, horse lovers and numerous other private customers. He also taught art for many years to disabled people.
Over the last 60 years, my fathers passion for art, animals and environmental conservation has been channelled through his primary interest in wildlife painting, although he does like to intersperse this with landscape (boosted by trips to Venice and Kenya) and portrait (human, equine and pets) painting too. His paintings are developed primarily from his own in the field sketches (of which there are literally thousands!) which helps give them a vibrancy, life and realism which is unobtainable when working solely from photographs in a studio. In addition, I have always felt that my fathers understanding of light/shade and the effects of time and weather, again derived from over 60 years of sketching and painting outside, adds an extra dimension to his paintings. You have to see the paintings in the, er, flesh as they are fantastic; vibrant, life-like, textured, etc, etc. Even with masses of latent artistic talent you can only achieve this level of excellence through 1000s of hours of patient observation, in the field sketching and studies of anatomy, light, weather and the passing of the seasons.
