A first edition and very scarce copy of this work in the publishers original cloth binding, with pictorial gilt to the front board. All edges gilt.

Library stamp to the verso of the title page.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and a headpiece for each poem.

Robert Millhouse (1788–1839) was an English Spenserian poet, who obtained some fame as a provincial poet, though his own life was affected by his serial marriages, ill-health and poverty.

This collection of Millhouses songs and sonnets includes his better-known poems To Sherwood Forest and Song of the Patriot, and a brief biography of the poet by the editor John Potter Briscoe.


CONDITION

In the publishers original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a little bumping to the extremities and the rear board, and wear to the head of the spine. Front hinge is a little tender, but remains reasonably firm. Page 45/46 is coming loose, but otherwise volume is firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Front free end paper is somewhat abraded.
