DESCRIPTION
A fascinating and compelling memoir of Antoine Marie Chamans, or Count Lavallette.
Born in 1769, Count Lavallette fought in the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, eventually turning down an opportunity to go into exile with Napoleon and opting for execution instead. Most fascinatingly, he escaped prison the night before his execution by dressing as a woman.
The second edition of this work.
Handsomely bound in quarter morocco with refreshed endpapers.
CONDITION
