The work of British art historian Sir John Wyndham Pope-Hennessy, director of the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1967 and 1973, and director of the British Museum between 1974 and 1976, and a scholar of Italian Renaissance art.
Arranged in three volumes, with one dedicated each to Plates, Catalogue, and Text.
A wonderful survey of the Italian sculptures of the Baroque and High Renaissance periods.
CONDITION
In the publishers original cloth bindings, with unclipped dust wrappers. A touch of shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally fine. Two small areas of offsetting from tape to each front free endpaper. Edgewear to dust wrapper back strip heads, with minor areas of age toning to head of each front wrap. Small closed tear to tail of rear wrap of plate volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
